I am back... - Originally posted 31 July 2006

Whoahee! When I clicked on my blog, I realized that I had not posted anything for the past 4 weeks! How weird of me! lol

Well, I am back from awesome vacations. It felt like I was gone for like a month instead of just a week because it was so relaxing!

First, we went to Cape May, NJ. My husband's brother and his sister along with their families were taking a vacation there too so we met on the beach. It was so much fun! Ah, and seeing our nephews is always great! Boy, they are good kids!

I obviously caught a sunburn the first day... that's the story of my life. It was right across my shoulders and the back of my neck. *sigh* So, being the prepared girl that I am (now; I wasn't always that way), I had packed longer clothing to hide from the sun when need be. Apparently, it was hilarious to see the look on people's faces when they would see me, all decked in black (of course), with like a long-sleeved jacket, longish pants, a black hat, two braids, and a black hat. I apparently looked quite like Wednesday Adams and that was apparently how people were reacting to me. Jeff thought that it was hilarious. I wish that I would have noticed! I fail to notice these things anymore. lol

On that Wednesday, we went to Philly for the uber great goth night at Shampoo. Jeff and I were debating the wisdom of driving 1.5 hours to and then from Philly for a club night. I was kind of tired but, hell, I couldn't miss it because it had been so awesome the month before. Well, we would have enjoyed it a bit more had we not had that much driving time to do but, mostly, if we had not had that much exposure to the sun. Anyway, it was a great night with lots of cool-looking people!

Thursday was our last day at the beach and then we grabbed our hotel room (yeah, it would have been wiser to grab a hotel room on Wednesday too... oh well). We were soooooooooo tired that we ended not doing as much as we had anticipated in Philly. But the whole point was to make the vacation longer so, heck, that goal was reached. We did eat a cheese steak at Steve's on South St.; we did stop in a lot of stores on South St.; we also spent a little fortune (to us) on cds at Dancing Ferret to get some more cool music; we ate at El Vez; we roamed China Town (I bought a cool fan and a thing for my hair); we saw Belly Jam where I finally met face to face with Haifa (whoot!); and we went out to Shadowland. Well, we did do a lot! ;o)

Btw, Jeff REALLY thought that it was both cute and hilarious that, when we arrived at Belly Jam and we were both sporting some vinyl, the first thing that the first belly dancer that we saw said was "Shiny!" ;o)

Driving back wasn't too bad except for when my brain was completely fried and I was giggling for nothing. I am waaaaaaaaay tired today and am a little dizzy from everything.

Comments I had received

From Haifa:
Well, I didn't see any left over sun burn or tan going on... gotta give me the secret for that. Plus I have to find something to take care of my freckles. ;) It was fantastic to see you and your hubby. I still can't believe you weren't melting at the Belly Jam! Although I did see that your hubby had some problems with his vinyl pants sticking to the chair. ;)

From Alhena:
I lived in Philly for a year, working as a live-in nanny. Glad to hear you had such an excellent vacation. You going to the Dondi seminar? Hugz!

From me:
lol. Yes, hubby kind of had sticking problems. And, I'm telling you, lining the vinyl with some natural fabric makes a big difference. ;o) I made that top, btw, hence why I could customize it. I will not be at the Dondi worshop since it is right during Gencon.
