Ze cake - Originally posted 1 August 2006

Okay, I forgot an important part in my blog about the vacation: Ze Cake. And, well, quite frankly, it deserves a blog entry just for it.

We had to park far from the beach one day... well, because we didn't want to put money in those meters. Anyway, we parked on West Perry St, which was like 5 blocks from the beach. We had to walk by a bakers' place and, Oh My Goth, the smell was soooooooo exquisite. We vowed to buy something from there. That was Monday and, unfortunately, they closed at 2 pm on Mondays but we did manage to buy something from there on Tuesday (they close at like 5 pm on Tuesdays).

I asked about 2 cakes that looked way yummy. The lady explained that one cake was an Oreo cake so it was a chocolate cake with some Oreos in the middle and Oreo crumbs in the icing. The other cake was the Reese's cake so it was a chocolate and peanut butter cake. I think that there was more to the description but I immediately said that that's what I wanted.

Oh My Goth! (again, I know!) It was ze most yummy thing! It was quite a fancy cake, actually. The taste was amazingly great. It was very sweet but not overpowering sweet. Anyway, everyone looooooooved the cake. Definitely, if we're going back to Cape May next year (it's very likely), we NEED to go to that bakery again. For those who might go to the area, it's Cape May Bakers on West Perry St.

And the cake story continues. There was a little girl who was in the same daycare facility as our Godson who also happened to be camping at the same place as we were. We found out that it was her sister's birthday and they were also supposed to eat some peanut butter-chocolate cake.

Well, we hear the birthday song and I forget how we learned about this but we learn that the birthday cake fell on the ground. There was a birthday within our group (friends of friends of brother-in-law... is this too convoluted?) so there was another cake that had been bought for the occasion; the person who had bought the cake offerred the cake for the party that had just lost their cake. I wanted to give the remainder of our cake too but Jeff was kind of reluctant (I can't blame him... I was too). Anyway, Jeff's sister came back from giving the first cake and we ask her how many people were there. There were like 10+ people so I tell her to take the uber yummy cake to the birthday group. (Actually, anyway, I had no idea how we would have kept it somewhat fresh overnight...)

A few minutes later, we hear another round of the birthday song for that little girl. The rest of the two cakes had saved a little girl's birthday who was turning 11. Warm, fuzzy feelings! ;o)
